Carpoint 0523413 - Lighter Plug - 6-24 Volt - 8 Ampere

Needed for wiring a dash cam in. It worked perfectly so i am happy.

This plug is fairly easy to wire up to whatever you need to connect to e.g. a car socket. Wires can be fixed in place with the screws that hold the terminals inside the plug, or by soldering, whichever you prefer. Th quality seems to be okay - it is a plastic thing but it seems to be quite sturdy - and it does what it is supposedto do.The only downside I can think of is that the positive (+) pin that sticks out of the center of the plug tends to be a little bit too long to fit into the sockets I use. Maybe I have shorter than average sockets but the plug kept popping out, which is of course annoying. The cure is easy though as all it takes is to grind the tip of the pin on a grinding stone or similar, until the plug will fit into your socket without popping back out again. A small issue really.

Good quality especially for price. Solid plastic casing with l.e.d indicator, decent sized screw terminals and also has a screw down cord grip. Fits 12v socket in fiat doblo van perfectly. Came fitted with a 15amp fuse.

To be honest its a lot of money for some very cheap plastic. No wiring instructions and it would be very easy to break before you'd even got it open if you were not careful. Having said that it works even if it took 45 minutes to wire it up because it is so difficult to get at inside.

Hopeless. Disassembly required, bits everywhere, no definite cable entries to terminals. Crowded when cables squashed in. Generally not very good. Chucked it away and got a ready wired one.

I broke the plug on my 12v tyre pump and bought this as a replacement, it does not need soldering and is very sturdy and works well. Good value for money.

I bought this and a different plug at the same time, hoping that one of them would work. The problem with this one is that it has a rounded end to the centre (positive) pole, and also that the plug does not fit tight in the socket. Combine these two things and you have an unreliable connection. I am not over keen on the use of the red plastic section at the end, the removal of which allows connection to a different type of socket (hella socket).The only positive things I can say about this plug are:- to make the connections inside, it is a relatively simple matter of using a cross-head screwdriver, rather than soldering- the plug comes with an 8 Amp fuse fitted- the spring which makes the connection between the centre connection and the fuse conducts well.

Can't fault it, very easy to connect up and seems solid enough.
