You get what you asked for. Do wash the noodles in cold water and then blanch in hot water, throw the water before using the noodles. The texture is chewy, not for everyone but it's not fault of the product, it is what it's supposed to be. Noodles don't have any taste or smell by themselves. It was a good one time experiment.
