Q: can these be used to test the ph of facial cleansers?

Just addressing the answer posted previously from Faye Jean Gilliard. It's incredibly important to understand the PH of skincare products (including cleansers, serums, etc.) to ensure that the products you're using properly balance out your skin and don't create issues to the extreme - too dry or too oily. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the products being absorbed into the bloodstream. There is actual science behind a proper skincare regimen, which is why someone asked this question about the ability to use these strips to test cleanser. For example, a regular bar soap typically has a PH of 10, which is horrible for the skin and will dry you out immediately. People who take care of their skin and want to balance out the PH of their skin must monitor the PH of any products used. As far as these strips go, yes, any strips can be used for that purpose. You'll probably have to apply the product and wipe it off after 10-15 seconds to see the reading.

Q: Accurate for use with aquariums (3.5 gallon tank)?

Should be accurate. I used them on a 20 gallon and also a 200 gallon aqua garden. Tested them against an electronic tester and the accuracy was close.

Q: If something had a pH of 4.5, would the strip look somewhere between the 4&5 colors? And are those colors different enough to make that determination?

When I measured the PH of kombucha I found it a bit difficult to determine the difference between 2 and 3 so they might not be the strips for you if you're looking for more precision.
