Found a great solution
There were a number of one-star reviews for this item, but I found a solution that works perfectly for my situation. I wanted to be able to switch my earbuds between four computers, but some reviews said the volume control on the LINKFOR didn't increase volume sufficiently. Others said the sound quality was not good because of a faulty volume control on the LINKFOR. I paired it with an LVY-015 Portable Headphone Amplifier, and the result is perfect. The LINKFOR allows connections to four audio sources, and the LVY gives you USB powered audio gain. I just plugged the LINKFOR output into the LVY input, and my earbuds to the LVY output. I now have all the volume I want by adjusting the LVY's volume with no need to touch the LINKFOR volume. I choose the audio input I want, adjust the volume, et voila!

Great Passive Audio Switch and Volume Control if you use dedicated studio speakers.
If you have multiple computers and multiple monitors with separate studio speakers, this is a good way to switch audio between your computers using one set of speakers. An actual KVM switch that can switch multiple computers and monitors between a single keyboard and mouse with audio switching as well can get very pricey, whereas if you for-go audio switching the price drops and it opens up more options, such as Display Port with HDMI, versus just one or the other. Now there are no active electronics inside this well built sturdy box. So it can’t be used to increase the volume over what is being sent through it. So keep that in mind and set your computer volumes and speaker volume accordingly.Being a passive device it does not degrade the sound quality at all.I can’t speak to the longevity of this device but with some care I would think it would hold up well. At least if it does go bad for some reason it would be fairly inexpensive to replace vs having the audio go out on an expensive KVM. The only caveat is that to switch between your computers you have two operations. This audio system and your KVM switch.

Good for sharing speakers between two computers
My new KVM switch did not have ports for sharing my speakers between two computers, so I had to look for a dedicated audio switch. This one is doing the job. So far, I've had no problem switching from one device to the other. I keep it beside the KVM, so when I switch one, I also switch the other. The price was very affordable with one exception. The 3.5mm cable that comes with the unit is too short. I had to buy three new, longer cables which increased the cost of ownership. That is why I downgraded this review to four stars. If you are not bothered by that, then consider the product to be five stars for price and performance. I've only had it a few months, so I can't say what the long-term quality will be. Fingers crossed. One of the most important features of an audio-sharing device is sound quality. There is no hiss or static. The tone is clear and good, though I perceive there is some signal loss (volume). It isn't enough to send it back. When I got the longer cables, it was easy to set up. Since both computers I use have 3.5mm ports, connectivity was no issue. Everything works.Pretty good product and I recommend it with the above caveats in mind.

Perfectly does the job
I have 2 computers, and 1 set of speakers on my desk. This does the job, adds NO NOISE and doesn't require power. Super-simple, well executed.

only needed 2, but glad I got 4
I got tired of unplugging my computer between my home stereo and my headphones. the only way this could be better is if there was a way to switch to the internal speakers on a computer, which I'm sure is not possible. I'm not hearing the noise or hum that others complained about, but I"m not doing any crazy studio recording or audiophile stuff.
