Mobvoi Create Another Winning Smartwatch!

I’m a confirmed Ticwatch and Wear OS fan. I already have a Ticwatch Pro LTE, and a Ticwatch 3 GPS and wanted to add a Ticwatch E3 to my collection as well (actually my son now has the Ticwatch Pro LTE and loves it). After the usual charging for a couple of hours routine, it has a simple but stylish design and the watch is extremely lightweight in your hand/on the wrist which is fantastic. The charger is easy to use, magnetic and has a nice feel to it. There is no charging plug included but that’s OK as I use several multi-way USB chargers so it connected to one of those without issue. The E3 looks and feels very nice on my wrist, it has a simplicity to the design and of course with the user customisable watch faces you can make it look as funky as you like in use.I love the strap design and it is very comfortable too which is a bonus. Having a standard 22mm strap fitment it is easy to swap out the strap if you fancy something different - but for now the strap that comes with suits me!I found the Ticwatch E3 very straightforward to setup after powering it up the first time, I have the WearOS companion App installed on my Samsung Note so it didn’t take too long at all to get going.I happily spent some time playing with the settings between the phone App and on screen on the watch itself to get things to my normal day to day setup (I like to keep things reasonably familiar to make operating the watch super easy and not needing any thought).I have played with most of the standard watch faces that come with the E3 out of the box and of course loaded some new ones too, and have currently settled on the ‘Pujie Black’ watchface for now (purchased via the PlayStore at a very reasonable cost). I do tend to change faces regularly when I feel like a change…I rarely carry a wallet these days and use contactless payment for most things. Rather than use my phone or credit card it is great to use my Ticwatch to pay for most things. A quick double press on the lower of the two buttons and GooglePay is ready to use.In terms of performance this watch is very responsive, clearly an attribute of the Snapdragon 4100 processor used with the latest version of WearOS, incidentally it seems that the Ticwatch E3 should get the next release of WearOS (version 3) too when Google release it which is reassuring in terms of some degree of future proofing and possible new features. So operation and recognition of swipes and navigation around the user interface is slick and speedy. The screen is as noted, large and very bright and clear to use.Battery life is very good, charging takes less than two hours from empty to full and with most monitoring enabled at maximum level I achieve two days of use which is more than enough for me. I don’t use sleep tracking though I have tested it and it seemed to give accurate results - I just don’t like to wear a watch when sleeping.Regarding the fitness apps built in and downloadable from the Play Store, I’d recommend sticking with the Mobvoi apps rather than Googles generic health apps in order to make maximum use of the hardware capabilities of the watch. I find myself frequently making use of all of the main functions - heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen (SpO2) levels, stress monitoring etc and have readings set to log every hour where possible.Use for quickly reviewing messages (including graphic/photo content in messages from WhatsApp etc is brilliant - avoiding the need to pull your phone out to take a look and it is even possible to respond to messages very quickly and easily if required. I find the message vibration alerts work well and get your attention without too much fuss or audible feedback.I installed Strava and linked to my account and tested on a few bike rides - using the Strava app to both start and end my rides - as soon as end of ride is confirmed, the full route appears on my phone in Strava ready to review or send out to any friends which is great.Exercise detection seems to work well, I have tested running (in the gym on a treadmill), cycling (both in the gym and out on the open road), and also swimming (in the sea, yes it’s November and yes it was cold - but cold water swimming is a ‘thing’ now so I do this when dragged down there!). After sea swimming I did rinse the watch in freshwater and ran the speaker vibration mode to ‘push’ and water out of the speaker and mic holes to make sure all was well.I’ve used my E3 to take and make calls - which when riding my bike with my phone in a rucksack was useful, sound and mic quality was pretty good and certainly serves it’s purpose.I do find myself using the Google assistant to set timers and alarms when cooking or undertaking tasks that are time dependent, a long press on the top watch button and then say what you need - it works well and again saves having to pull out your phone to do the same.Summary: A well priced, responsive and stylish Smart Watch with a large display and running the latest WearOS system and compatibility with the next generation WearOS planned for release towards the end of this year. I love it, I’d buy it again and yes I would recommend that anyone should seriously consider the Ticwatch E3 when looking for their next Smart Watch.

Great watch. Setup process is nightmarish but with happy ending.

This is the best budget watch running wearos. The Snapdragon processor does mean it snappy and not laggy. Battery is good for full day at least, under stress. However be warned, the setup process was riddled with issues after issues. Red band of death, connectivity issues. You write a novel on the steps taken to get it to work. But once you do. Finally fully updated running everything you can throw it, it's a real diamond. But you will need to be brave and strong to try. Four stars only because of the final result. Would have been five for not the atrocious setup process.

Hands down, the worst Tech purchase I've ever made. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE! Returning.

Written by someone who has conducted HOURS AND HOURS of research...UPDATE 22/3/2022:I am writing a review for a second watch that I received to replace the original, faulty one. After weeks of trying to get by with watch no.1, it took over with a mind of it's own: switching on and off in the middle of the night, screens switching when I was not touching it etc. to a point where I was concerned about security. Amazon were great and processed the return and replacement. Tick.Watch no.2:I always had my suspicions re: the step tracking and today my wife and I carried out a test. She wore her Fitbit Charge 4 AND my Ticwatch E3 to do exactly the same exercise. The results were unbelievable. At best, my Ticwatch was within 100 steps of the Fitbit. I'd take that, give and take a small %age. However, throughout the day, with little or NO movement, by Ticwatch E3 would be anything between 25% and 33% out. Now, one could argue it is the Fitbit charge that is odd. Why would the Ticwatch E3 by massively over stating my steps? Who knows. But I carried out an experiment on my own this evening whilst walking to my bathroom and emptying the dishwasher. Approx 100-150 steps. Call it 200 to be overly optimistic. My Ticwatch E3 stat: 1,151 steps. Significantly over calling it.Bought a Galaxy Watch4 after returning this....night and day!Original review:Overall, I think the product is average... Looks really smart, great interface and really responsive. Strava tracking is fantastic as is the ability to go phone free for runs.Disappointed in the battery life. For something with such great functionality, I'd have expected better battery life considerations. Also, I find that every day, at least once, it freezes.Something that is really frustrating that has been logged by myself and hundreds of Wear OS users is the constant ask to disconnect and re-pair your phone. It is on my notifications 90% of the day (see pic that was taken as I write this review). The first time I actioned the request, it factory reset my watch and it took me all evening to reset. Very frustrating. Now I just leave it and have to ignore the notification. There appears to be no fix by Google, so be aware. There are too many apps doing the same thing though so really hard to simplify and consolidate what you do with one app/ one set of apps. E.g. the watch has several tic apps like tic sleep, tic health, tic exercise etc. All of which do the same as Google and it is annoying that you have to choose which to use and leave one set of apps redundant. Surely it could be simpler to have just Google fit or tic.Update 8/3/2022:Watch constantly doesn't connect to show location.Everyday for the last 8 days my watch restarts randomly: in the day, on runs, in the middle of the night. I no longer wear it in bed.Looking at returning. Very disappointed.
