We love this new thermostat. Took a bit to set up...ended up with a freezing cold house the 1st morning because it wasn't hooked up right. The AC was blowing instead of the heat! It was awful. Even the animals were crowding for warmth!

I hate this thermostat.I've got two Nest learning thermostats in my main house, and while I don't care for them, I purchased this Nest non-learning thermostat for my pool house, mainly so I could control it from the existing Nest app.Installation was ridiculous. There's no instructions packaged with the product. Fire up the Nest app and scan the QR code. It doesn't work with the Nest app. You have to install Google Home and set it up there. Ok, install google home. The interface doesn't look like the instructions say. Have to screw around with the app to find the place to add a device. Found it, hit the + to add a device. Now the app goes off "trying to connect" to the new thermostat. Well of course it's not going to work, it's sitting on the counter waiting to be installed. So then you have to wait a minute for it to time out searching for a new device. If you cancel the search for a new device, you don't get an option to add a device manually. It took half an hour of screwing around and searching reddit to realize that I had to let it time out in order to add the new device. But at least now we've got the app so it can tell me where to put which wires. Well it didn't do that either. Now over an hour after starting this ridiculous process, it tells me that my system is not compatible with the thermostat. After another long break reading reddit posts, I figured out which wires go where and got the thing on the wall working.Now that it's connected and working, I get to experience how bad the interface is. It's not a touch screen. There's some sort of sensor thing on the right hand side that you tap or slide up and down. It's not a good system, and it's completely NOT obvious how to control it. No one who has been in the pool house has been able to figure it out. They all come out saying the screen doesn't respond. I shouldn't have to teach people how to turn a thermostat up or down.Finally, the wifi keeps dropping out. I have a good signal to multiple devices in the same room, so I have to put the blame on the thermostat.tldr; terrible install, bad interface, flakey wifi
