Junji Ito Collection: The Complete Series [Blu-ray]

I'm a huge Junji Ito fan so I had to add this Blu-Ray to my collection!!! I will admit that this animation style for this particular anime will not resonate with everyone, but I love the fact that Ito's stories have be adapted into moving live story!!! If you love Ito's stories in his various manga, than this is definitely worth a watch!!!My Blu-Ray arrived on time and was in perfect condition! Note that the digital code is no longer valid and you cannot redeem it because Funimation no longer exists separately. Crunchyroll has rights to this particular anime now, so the digital code that's included in this box no longer works unfortunately. Overall I'm happy with my purchase! Owning the physical media is amazing and the picture quality is stunning!

I may be a bit biased, but I love Junji Ito, and so I was thrilled when I learned they were giving him an anime series. I think they picked a lot of really good shorts to animate, but he has so many good short stories, and even longer series that I was left wanting more. I do think that the series makes one fatal flaw in starting off with a Soichi story. I don't particularly like Soichi or any of his antics, and he is a repeat character in Ito manga so I understand why they included him; however, I think there were better offerings to start the series with. Starting with the "Used Record" episode would have been a better indication for viewers that this was a collection of short stories. I know a few people gave up on the series after the first episode because they also did not care for Soichi. If you're on the fence about trying the series, give it a shot. Remember it is all short stories and Soichi is only in a few. I'd love to see more Tomie in the future.
