I’m not normally one to write reviews but, this shelving unit is so good, im making an exception! I’ve been through plenty of shelving systems over the years and the weak and flimsy rubbish I’ve bought at a certain diy store that sounds like Bee & Queue have never lasted.This shelf system is absolutely perfect. It weighs a lot in itself, giving an idea of its strength. All the metal is thick and heavy gauge. The shelves themselves are almost twice as thick as anyone else’s. When I finished putting the shelves together, I climbed into the top shelf in order to fix a light fitting and it took my 17st weight effortlessly without even creaking.As for the price… ridiculously cheap, so I have ordered a second one to fit the gap next to it and a third so I have one in reserve just in case they stop making them in the future.

These shelves were more expensive than many but I paid the extra as they were exactly the dimensions I required and the description said they came from a Small business in the UK.Firstly I was disappointed the uprights (1800mm long) were not supplied in one piece, but 2 pieces with a joining piece The package was 1500mm long so to accommodate full length uprights would not have increased the length significantly but would contribute so much to the product quality. The joining pieces were far too flimsy and not well made. I have included an 'end on' photo of one of them. They are supposed to be, and need to be 90 degrees. This one was at least 100 degrees which makes them impossible to use to join the uprights.The basic construction is a metal tab, to tap through a formed metal loop. It is all manufactured far too tightly and needs a hefty bang to bring them together. Furthermore the tabs are often bent slightly the wrong way and need heavy hammering to persuade them to go the correct side of the metal loops.I would only advise buying these if you have some engineering experience, they need to be 'persuaded' together and not just assembled. Also, most of the assembly requires 2 people.On many of the parts, the powder coating blue finish is either rubbed off or very badly finished.Now they are assembled, they are strong and adequate but I would never buy them again.

Good and surprisingly sturdy

I am 75 years old, but put the racking together on my own. I just plodded along over a couple of days. Delivered next day, quite heavy for me. Checked everything was there and started the procedure. The direction sheet is a waste of time, but it went together without any worries.

Ideally 2 people to start it off at base. Lugs can be fiddly and occasional bending required with pliers and large flat head screwdriver to open lug holes a little. Normal hammer can be used if careful. Great substantial racks. The mdf shelves are fit for purpose but look thin.

If I need more in the future. I would buy the same type again.Reasonably straightforward to assemble, however, I did find I needed the use of a flat blade screwdriver in addition to a heavy rubber mallet. Each finished shelving unit (I bought four) feel very sturdy and look good. My garage (at long last) is neat and tidy.
