Well built USB or Bluetooth Scanner
The Netum NT-1228BL barcode scanner does just as the description says - scans most barcodes easily and connects to USB and Bluetooth sources to do so. In the box you get the scanner, a small manual, a USB cable (A-B) and a generic USB Bluetooth dongle labelled as a CSR 4.0. I haven't tested the dongle as all devices that I have come with a built in Bluetooth chip these days, but have used this model in the past with no real issues. The supplied USB cable is about 1m long and comes with a moulded block on the scanner end, so it fits in neatly. Longer A-B cables could be used though as the actual connection is standard USB.In use, the scanner is supposed to come pre-configured for plug and play use. Powering up the scanner when connected to a computer via USB installs a virtual bluetooth com port and the scanner emulates a keyboard. Powering up without it being connected to USB puts the scanner into Bluetooth pairing mode and it can be seen by the computer/phone as NETUM Bluetooth. The connection is easy to make and worked on both my WIndows 10 PC, Linux PC and Android Phone. Once connected it should be as simple as scan the barcode when the cursor is in a text entry field (like a notepad document etc.). For me though, I got the scan beep from the scanner but nothing was sent to the computer or phone. I had to scan the factory reset sequence in the manual before it worked (not a major inconvenience but it did mean it was not PnP). There is also another configuration step that should be done - scanning the UK keyboard barcode, as the factory setting is for a US keyboard. If probably won't matter either way for most uses, but there is a possibility of scanning errors, so worth the few seconds to scan this code. There is one other option you can use and that is store mode, where the scanner stores the codes and needs a code scanning to release them from the internal buffer to the computer. I suspect my scanner came with this mode configured rather than the normal mode.Overall scan speed and accuracy has been excellent with both 'old fashioned' barcodes and newer 2D/QR codes. It scans quickly and I have yet to have a bad scan (once reset and configured). The scanner has also scanned successfully from laptop and mobile phone screens, unlike many other cheap scanners I have used in the past.It is possible to download a more comprehensive configuration manual from the gzxlscan (manufacturers listed in the manual) but its version is older than the more basic one supplied in the box. I haven't needed to scan any configuration settings except those in the supplied manual though but it is nice to have these options available (especially settings like power save time out and beep control).

Easy to use
Love this for adding my books to the library app. Bluetooth has needed to be reset a couple for times. But overall easy to use.

Wasted a morning trying to get it working.
Returned as it would not scan on either of my laptops with win10 and win11. Access to the web page shown on the enclosed leaflet was blocked by Norton. Why no customer support?

EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Connects over Bluetooth to my iPhone and lets me scan barcodes directly into the inventory app I use for work.Comes with a booklet of barcodes you scan to change settings on the scanner, you will need to give it a flick through to find the right one for your use case. But after that it’s so quick and easy to use!! 😁

It err, scans barcodes real good
After a couple of years using an eBay cheap-as-wet-socks scanner, we celebrated the 7,592nd time of accidentally dropping it on the floor and it finally giving up the ghost. Needed one quickly so to Amazon we went. Think we paid around £20, it doesn't show the cost on this review screen, but if it was, that means we've probably paid 3 times more than the old one. No issue with that as it feels comfortable in the hand and the button has a satisfactory "click" to it. The highlight for us, is it being wireless, we don't need to keep it on the edge of the table anymore like the old one due to cable length, meaning it shouldn't be dropped so often (I have hope!!).Battery life is good so far, we don't use it daily but it seems alright to me :)The little programming book is clear and concise and we've had zero issues with more difficult barcodes.TL;DR: scans barcodes very well, good battery, satisfying button clicking sound.

Love it as a software engineer
I initially ordered this scanner to make my own custom POS system. Initially, I connected through Bluetooth and it was recognised as a plug and play device. It was essentially a wireless keyboard which scans text, types it very fast and adds a ‘return’ key at the end.I was amazed to go to the support website and find tons of different ways to program this scanner and the most important one to me was that it supported Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). With this, I could connect directly to the app I was developing and send data back and forth from the barcode. One thing I’d like to see improved is a way to send and receive silent messages. Right now, I can request the scanner’s battery level by sending a code to the scanner but this trigger’s the scanner’s beep just like as if it was physically scanned. Of course, you could disable the beeper all together but that’s not what I want. I’d like to send and receive the battery messages silently and keep everything else audible. Still giving 5 stars but I’d like to see an improvement where specific messages can be silent

Amazing for my home library
I absolutely love this product. It’s really easy to use. I signed up to a library app for free and you literally just scan the barcode and the book is registered on your library. There’s lots of portions to use on different types of barcodes but I am only using on books!
