I have a few of these both inside and (sheltered in a 3d print) outside the house for fan control. The battery lasts longer than most of my zigbee sensors and they are accurate and reliable. Stick em and forget. They rotate off for battery replacement without and rotate back on. Just about to buy another so dropping in the review.

Works as expected and love the HomeKit support!I would have given 5 stars if the devices would communicate directly with the native iOS app. For security concerns I have a preference where I block all HomeKit device from accessing the internet as they work great via the iOS Home app. Once the hub is blocked from accessing the internet the native app can no longer find it, thankfully, iOS Home app still works great (as expected)!So if you have a setup like this and block HomeKit devices from accessing the internet directly, know that you must get everything setup with the native app before you lock down your network.

I love how easy and tiny they are! Battery still hasn’t died on me. Always stays connected with hub and HomeKit! I have one on the ceiling in each room. This is my best friend when it comes to bathroom. Once the humidity hits this % then it automate the switch to turn on bathroom fan! When it drops below % then it turns off the bathroom fan!I found this to show more accurate temperature and humidity than HomePod does. Plus HomePod doesn’t work with automation. This one does! HomePod is very slow with updating while this is rapid and consistent!

We’re very easy to add to M3 Hub. Sensor seems pretty accurate but need more testing. Using them for bathroom fan automations.

No problem with outdoors use.edit:I bought two of these, one in Nov 2022 and one in March 2023. The first one is working well and I have not had to touch it since I first set it up.The second one is problematic. The original battery lasted only about 2 1/2 months. I replaced it with a fresh Energizer battery and it lasted about one week, going from 3.2 V to 2.4V in that time. I just replaced the battery again and in less than one hour it went from 3.2 V to 2.9 V. This may be due to a bad batch of batteries, but I went with a brand name and shouldn't be seeing this. I see that other people are also complaining about battery life, so I have to conclude that the 2032 battery is apparently a poor choice.To make matters worse, the battery hatch is the stupidest design possible. The unit mounts to the wall by means of an adhesive ring attached to the battery hatch cover. The battery is not held in place by anything other than the hatch cover. That means that it is impossible to put in a new battery without removing the hatch cover from the wall. A small piece of tape can hold the battery in place, but there should have been a lip on the battery well to keep it from falling out. Not a fatal flaw, but a major inconvenience.Additional edit:I replaced the Eveready battery with a Duracell battery. The battery started with a no-load Voltage of 3.3V. After six hours it was down to 2.9V. After 9 hours home-assistant was reporting that battery capacity was down to 48%.So now I have spent as much on batteries that I have no other use for as I did on the sensor itself.Amazon closed the return window after 30 days, and the manufacturer says to contact the seller for returns, refunds and replacements. I've been had. Don't make the same mistake.

Work very well with my Home Assistant system to monitor temperature and humidity in freezers, refrigerators and to monitor the temperature in the room with my fireplace (to activate my furnace fan for additional circulation). Battery life is very good with the standard battery.

I recently purchased 4 of the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensors to integrate into my home assistant system. While the device offers basic monitoring capabilities, I have encountered several issues that significantly impact its performance and reliability.Range Limitations: The sensor's effective range is notably limited. In my experience, when placed more than approximately 30 feet from the Home Assistant Zeegbee receiver, the sensor struggles to maintain a stable connection. Beyond 35 feet, connection drops become frequent and disruptive, which is particularly frustrating for users with larger living spaces.Accuracy: The temperature and humidity readings provided by the sensor are adequate but not exceptional. For users seeking precise environmental data, this sensor may not meet higher accuracy standards.Build Quality: Based on my experience, I find the build quality of Aqara products, including this sensor, to be subpar. The device feels cheaply made, which raises concerns about its long-term durability. As for the battery compartment well it just sucks. Changing the battery can be difficult. The slot is a problem I found using a quarter or maybe a house key keeps from rounding it off. Helps.Zigbee Network Compatibility: Despite having a well-established Zigbee network with extenders in place, the sensor's range issues persist. This suggests that the device may not fully leverage the mesh networking capabilities that Zigbee is known for. The lack of a standardized protocol across different manufacturers seems to contribute to inconsistent performance among Zigbee devices.Recommendation: Given these challenges, I would not recommend the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor unless it is placed within direct line of sight of your Zigbee hub or dongle. For those requiring reliable and accurate environmental monitoring over a more extensive area, exploring alternative sensors with better range and build quality would be advisable.In summary, while the Aqara Temperature and Humidity Sensor offers basic functionality, its limited range, average accuracy, and questionable build quality make it a less-than-ideal choice for comprehensive smart home integration.
