Doesn’t work for water kefir

Not suitable for water kefir, tried with 4 different sugars and none worked, 3 days in and not even one bubble. Also packets weight different, some have 1.4g others have 1.2g.Works great only for milk, I would avoid making anything else with it…

The perfect amount for my needs.

This starter is perfect for my kefir needs. I get 7-8 quarts per package which lasts me about 6-8 weeks. I'm afraid grains would make way more kefir than I could use. This gives me just enough. The best part is it has never failed. No starting the grains and wasting the milk to get it started.Nice and tangy, perfect smell for kefir and always fresh. Economical too!

Highly recommend this Kefir starter

I’ve bought these a few times over the years and they make Kefir so easily. I even had a package that had expired by 1 year and it still worked perfectly. I’ve used these starter packs with many types os milk and cream (pasteurized, raw, and coconut milk) and it work perfect every time. This is the best kefir starter I’ve found

Excellent taste but got only half of what I was expecting

Overall, I just wanted to rate it half of the rating because I feel I just got half of what I was expecting:* I read the instructions and to be honest it couldn’t be easier: pour milk then add the powder starter and let rest for 12 to 24 hours. Checked!Honestly the first result is exactly what I was looking for : some real and very tasty kefir. So yes I would give it 5 stars IF ONLY I would then get the second result I was expected :* the kefir grains that it supposed to grow in the first batch and that I was supposed to be able to reuse over and over again to “grow” more kefir. It says that, once you got your first batch, to drain it through a plastic strainer to “harvest” those grains that you would be be able to reuse after rinsing them and store them in a container filled with a little bit of water with sugar to keep feeding them. But no grains grew at all. I had some very super tiny soft pieces of yogourt kind but that was melting once squeezed into the cheese cloth.I tried with all 4 sleeves of powder starter but got no result.So maybe I missed something but even after watching several tutorials on youtube and read different blogs on my ipad I don’t see where I made the mistake. So I would love to hear from someone who succeed with this product.Such a shame honestly because it gives a very good kefir

Easy to make

I was paying $5 for 32 oz of Kefir. I never thought about making it. It was easy. There was no learning curve for me. I let refrigerated milk sit in a 32 oz wide-mouth ball jar for an hour, added a packet, covered it with a coffee filter held in place with a rubber band, let it stand for 24 hours, and it was perfect. I've used 2% and 1% milk. I prefer 2%. I use up all but a1/4 cup (approx), then fill it up with room temp milk and it makes another batch. I've lowered the fermentation time to 8 hrs. Of course, refrigerate it after it ferments. I don't filter it. I shake it up before pouring it for drinking. It's really been easy for me.
