MoondropDAWN Pro Protable USB DAC/AMP Dual CS43131 DAC 32Bit/384kHz DSD256 Decoder Heasphone Amplifier

I have about 10 DACs of assorted makes and this model interested me based on the reviews and recommendations I read. I particularly liked the inclusion of both 3.5 and 4.4 outputs which allow me to use balanced cables too. The sound output level is also very good indeed - and the addition of the built-in volume control is a great bonus. And the sound? Very clean and detailed with a very natural sound (as I'd wish to hear my favourite music so this is subjective) and has a extensive frequency range. Fine with my DSD files too. Very smooth to listen to for long periods. And the best part - exceptional performance at this exceptional price!!

Why did you choose this product over others?:Great sound quality out of my phone with balanced or unbalanced headphones. Plenty of power when used with Tidal and the USB audio player pro app that bypasses androids cruddy default sound output and communicates directly with the DAC chips. One thing of note, the device can be put into UAC1 mode when plugging it into consoles like the PS5 by holding the volume up button when plugging it in. When pulsing Red, you are in UAC1 mode. It does not have loads of power when in UAC1 mode though, but the versatility is nice.

Very good product and really nice design. Smaller than expexted (which is good) and nice LED system that shows the quality of sing being processed. Really nice improvement on sound and 4 EQ settings. Docked one mark as the app so unusable (has to be reset every time to be able to use presets and LED doesn't change unless the module plugged in after the reset). Would definitely recommend, fantastic value for money. Superb with Moondrop Chu 2, which as a pair are unbelievable value for money.

The Dawn Pro arrived in an unusual but cute tin. Inside was the Dawn Pro, a USB C to USB C cable and a USB C to USB A adapter. If you're struggling to find the accessories, remove the foam from the case and it should be on the under side.The Dawn Pro sounds great. Very close to neutral but not quite as it adds a tiny bit of warmth. It's also quite powerful. The only flaws I can really point out is the poorly built app (borderline unusable, not like you need to change any settings though) and the fact that the LED light inside the Dawn Pro cannot be disabled - so when it's plugged into my PC on top of my desk at night, it makes the ceiling blue which is distracting when I'm trying to sleep.The only thing you should really consider when purchasing this product is, do you really need it? I think for most people the answer to this is no. The target demographic of this DAC is IEM users, and IEMs are very easy to drive. Consider looking into a high quality, inexpensive dongle as that will provide a very similar experience for much cheaper. Though a bit pricey, it's hard to fault the Dawn Pro. Personally, I love it - hence the 5 stars.

The Moondrop Dawn has had some great reviews and it is currently going for less than beer money it is well-packaged and works well with both my iPhone and my LGV30+ however that's all the good points, my first impression it sounded a bit flat and lacking any bass slam, I thought it was odd so I pulled it from my phone and plugged it into my iMac and it sounded better with some of the slam returning I tried the balanced output and it sounded not too bad when using the power from the iMac but on both phones, it felt underpowered worst still the volume control don't work and that was that. I will keep it as it might work well on my iPad Pro but that's another day.

Fantastic sound quality. I use this DAC with Hifiman Sundara planar headphones, and music sounds divine. I tested it on my android phone, and my wifes iphone and ipad (usb-c port on those). The DAC control app is very minimalistic, but I see it as a positive trait. I dont want this to be overcomplicated. The whole setup works wonders with amazon music, and ultra hd music is just a complete "eargasm". And I havent even tried the 4.4mm balanced jack yet. 100% would recommend this DAC.
