Excellent capsule with a flat response and great proximity effect control
I’ve tried many capsules on my ULX-D transmitter, and this one is incredible, especially for $200. I’m a classically trained baritone, and I love that this provides a very flat frequency response with very little proximity effect. Many people have said this mic makes them sound “more like themselves,” and that’s what you get if you have good mic technique and a flat frequency response. A tiny bit (as in a single dB up or down, maximum, at least for me) of EQ here and there is all you should need with this capsule, if you need any at all. It’s a wonderful “you get out what you put in” capsule, made by a well respected company. The fact that it sells for only $200 makes this a bargain for how transparent and high-performing it is. (I’ve not tried something like a KSM11 or 4018, but I imagine this is probably a nearly identical microphone, performance-wise, for a small fraction of the cost.)I was using a SE v7 MC1 capsule prior to this, which I’m sure is a great mic for many, but over-exaggerated the lows due to the register of my voice and my need to have it close to my mouth. It never felt like it suited my voice, whereas the SR117 felt like a better version of my voice from the first practice session with it. I love that I was able to take out nearly all of my EQ reduction in the lows around 325 Hz, because it wasn’t trying to blow my IEMs away with added bass from a proximity effect like the V7 always did.

Might be the best all around vocal mic in it's price range
Love Earthworks products and when I found out they have a "budget" mic I was skeptical, but I really enjoy singing into this microphone. Hands down it beats out similarly priced (SM87, e906, etc) microphones. Ended up buying five of the capsules
