Make sure the hole is large enough so the transmission shaft moves easily.
Today, my husband bought the Yardworks 125 lb. Broadcast spreader from Menards....We just spent two hours assembling it....Just a heads up....Step 4 states "Insert the assembled transmission to the hole on the bottom of the hopper assembly..." There was NO hole in the hopper , though an obvious circle stamped on the hopper showed where a hole should be. We drilled a hole and proceeded to assemble. Make sure the hole is large enough so the transmission shaft moves easily.

Surprised at quality...we'll see...
5-9-19 Bought the 85 lb push broadcast spreader, because I was fed up with green lines from my Scotts Edge Guard Deluxe. After a great deal of in person shopping, I purchased this one for $79 at Menards. Directions for assembly were spot on; finished in 20 min. and I'm reasonably handy. (Directions said it would take 15). Love the tires, spreader bin and all-steel construction. Worked beautifully first time on 15,000 sq ft lawn. No worries whatsoever. Comes with a more aggressive agitator which I may try as well. Will comeback if it doesn't hold up. Seems much stronger, with better product distribution than the plastic Scotts.

Dont buy
Bought this at Menards, and will be taking it right back. Put it together which was fine. Everything was good the first 50 feet and then it stopped working. The cotter pin to drive the axle actually got sucked into the hole and wrapped around the axle, my guess is the weight of the hopper and cheap cotter pin. It sauys its rated for 85 #s, I put 50# bag of fertalizer in and it did this. Disappointing as I liked the price point, theres a reason its that cheap.

poor quality
Hard to put together correctly. Directions are poor. I have put 250 lbs of fertilizer down and wore out the plastic spinner. The product drop hole is very hard to get to stay in one position so you spread in different amounts. I would not purchase this if I had it to do over again.

A good buy
MY son and daughter put it To gather in 15 min. every thing to put to gather was in the box. For 80 dollars it is a great buy. I filled it with 50 lb of fertilzer it spread like a champ. I realy like it best investment. Beats the new walk behind I just bought. If your 69 years old get this tow behind save you a lot of work!

Poor quality
I had the same problem as others, the axle bushings are on backwards from the factory, the instructions don't tell you to disassemble and put back together. An even bigger problem: fertilizer pellets get stuck in the mechanism that releases the fertilizer, so the door doesn't open all the time to let it spread fertilizer. Duh! I have cleaned the mechanism and it will work until you flies it once, then it "sticks" again. Buy something better.
