I have a love of playing chess/checkers but wanted an updated stylish board that I could display on my bar cart without clashing with my decor. This is the perfect set for a modern or farmhouse style.

It was half good, in the picture you can see the top half of the board was excellent with the tiles all properly aligned. Then the bottom half all the tiles were somehow crooked. Will be returning for a replacement. Will update review if the next board comes out good.Edit: I received a replacement and the tiles were even more crooked than the first one! Stay away from this board until they sort out their QC.

This is beautiful! I keep it out all year and for a family that never really played unless I begged, we now play at least 3x a week! Love it!

The Marblous Krafts chess set was ordered for use in our home on a specially made table.From the time I opened the well-made container that housed the chess set, I was impressed with this product. Although the shipper put the overall set in a cardboard box with very little padding, the container housing the chess set is a specially crafted box for the entire set, and kept the set secure for being broken or scratched. In fact, it was so well made that it was difficult to remove the chess set from the container.The chess board is made of marble, and it is heavy. The entire set weighs a little over 15 pounds. This is not a set that one will be carrying around from house to house to use on a regular basis. The board is beautiful and it should be set on a table not only for use in play but also as a decorative piece.The chess pieces are crafted from metal and have felt bottoms in order to deter scratching the marble board. The King is about 3 1/2 inches tall and the shortest are the Pawns at 2 inches. The pieces are also on the heavy side. They are definitely not plastic pieces filled with some sort of filler.BOTTOM LINE: I definitely like this chess set, and it will make a beautiful addition as a decorative piece as well as being used to play chess in our home. It is well made with a marble board and metal chess pieces. If one is a casual player, this set is going to seem expensive. But if you are looking for a set with which to play the game in your home and also use as a decorative piece, then this is the set. I would order this product again. This would make a great gift for someone who plays chess and appreciates a well-made set.

I'm impressed. The squares have been glued in and then undergone a grinding and polishing operation. It's a smooth surface and it is heavy! A thick piece of foam padding blankets the bottom. This board is not going anywhere unless you turn your table over. The pieces are high gloss and weighted with thick foam padding underneath. In this case, it's an advantage over felt because of better grip, and they're less likely to become displaced if your table is jarred. They sound like glass when you tap a couple of pieces together. My only concern is that if you keep this on a nice table in the same place for a long period of time that the foam may react with the finish of the table and cause some discoloration. This may not be an issue at all. Just a concern which may be a non-concern. I love it, and it's made to be passed down through the generations.

The media could not be loaded. This is a genuine marble chess set that looks and feels much better than I expected. The board is thick and the piece are big. Great color throughout the board and pieces. Every piece has foam under them to protect the board and the bottom part of the board has a huge foam pad. There are no wobbles on the board or pieces.
