I've read many books on discipleship over the years and her countless discussions about the topic in 35 years of following Jesus. While it is true that as Ecclesiastes teaches us of the making of books there is no end, every now and then we come across a true gem. The master plan of evangelism is truly one of the greats in this area, and Dr Robinson and the other writers deliberately and transparently build off of many of the concepts laid out in that great work. What is unique about this book in one word is weaving. This book holds the best balance of practice and theory of any I have read in any recent history, weaving real life examples and demonstrations of core concepts with theory based upon scriptural principles, interwoven with sections of scripture that in this framework are likely to come alive in practicality like never before for the reader. While the above is what makes book unique in a manner of speaking, what will make it enduring in addition to the above is its timing in history. The old adage in business is that success is a combination of preparation meeting opportunity. I think this book arrives at just that right opportunity, just that right time in history, to help wake the slumbering church to the genuine discipleship intended from the beginning of time.

Yes! Finally, a work on disciple making that moves beyond theory and dives into biblical application not only in its content but also by the perspectives of contributors that are woven together through actual generational disciple making with one another. Generational Disciple Making takes the reader on a journey from the perspective of a collection of disciple makers who have had their lives impacted by one another. Rarely do you find a work on disciple making strategy where the content is validated by the authenticity of the contributors’ collective experience. With each chapter the reader is immersed into a facet of the story from another perspective and is confronted with different theological concepts to improve their own disciple making ability. The work stirs the emotion of the reader because of their transparency and the gratitude one contributor has of another who has invested in them. It is refreshing to see a work written in community for community. Generational Disciple Making is a must read for the disciple in the pew that has never invested their life intentionally as well as the theorist who is academically astute in the field, but pragmatically lacking.

This book provided valuable information in the first two chapters alone changing my thinking on several key components of discipleship. Our community of practice discussed it and embraced this new learning and within 3 weeks we’ve seen increased ownership of the discipleship task among us and 2 new followers of Jesus being immediately discipled to reproduce as a result. I loved the perspectives from various practitioners in the chapters following and Robinson’s closing 2 chapters were powerful as well. I recommend this book to all pastors and leaders as well as being a great vision cast to ordinary everyday followers of Jesus. The worship of God and making disciples who reproduce was Jesus plan from the start and we must call the Church back to her foundations. Thank you for a great book.

Generational Disciple-Making not only provides practical and Biblical instructions on disciple-making, it also provides a great picture what it looks like. The creation of this book is a real-life example of making disciples who make disciples. I can't think of another book that pulls together the contributions of three generations of disciple-makers. I am grateful to Dr. Robinson not only for this excellent book and faithfulness to the great commission but also for his mentorship in my own life. In his book Generational Disciple-Making, George Robinson reveals to the reader that investing in the lives of people for the Kingdom of God can produce significant results. Book is a little uneven at times due to the number of authors. Generational disciple making is a needed study for today's church. Disciple making has been given over as the responsibility of the church leadership only and this is not the biblical model. All believers are charge to be disciple makers and to do it in a way that is can be reproduced. This book looks at how to do it and at the same time demonstrates it as they are all part of the same discipleship tree.
