Q: How detailed are the instructions? We need to know the temp for certain oils and throw capacity of the wax to get the correct balance.

Sorry I don’t remember the instructions but I do believe it came with some. I prefer coconut wax. Soy flashpoint I believe is 180-185 add dye while melting and add fragrance right after removing (175-180) from heat and stir 2-3minutes to bond fragrance and wax.

Q: Can the melting pot be placed directly on a stove to heat it?

No. Use double boiling method. Use a large pot of boiling water then place the melting pitcher inside. I suggest not using black handled ones or take it off.

Q: I’m new to candle making, what are the glue dots for?

They are for holding the wick in place in the container.

Q: How many candles can you make with this kit?

It depends on the size of candle you want to make. I was able to make 4 (4oz) candles with the wax provided. If you want to make larger candles you’ll need to purchase more wax.
