Hellbound

Hellbound by Warlock is their heaviest album to date. And as a metal connisuer i know what good 80's metal is! not faster pussycat thats not metal! if you want some hard hitting metal buy this record this is the second album by Warlock and lead singer Doro pesch is really on in this one if you want to know more about warlock see my review on triumph and agony. doro pesch is the queen of metal not lita ford! although lita is a good artist. doro has kept it metal after warlock split up in the late 80's her first solo album was force majuer or something like that i havent bought it yet but its on my list. and shes still going strong, not to mention she in her mid to late 40's. I love metal and if you love metal you'll love this album.

Doro is raw, hard, and absoluetely amazing on this CD. I find it better than the other 4 Warlock Cds, which I also find to be great metal. But this one is my favorite. It doesn't matter if you are an older metal head or a new metal head. If you can appreciate the long 40 year history of metal and all its sub genres than you will love this CD,

This is a great CD. I have this on record that I bought in Germany while stationed there in 1985. It is so nice to have it on CD now. This is a must for any Warlock fan.

I remember catching this band on a late night tv show at the time of this release. I don't suppose I was the only bloke to be gobsmacked by Doro's beauty, but hey, the girl can sing! This is a damn fine metal album, and she saves the best til last with the smouldering ballad Catch my Heart, which still gets the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end.

Mit "Burning the Witches" hatten WARLOCK mich voll abgeholt, das Teil lief bei mir rauf und runter, ich fand es einfach genial.Klar, dass ich damals auf den Nachfolger richtig heiß war, nichts anderes als “Schwermetall” vom gleichen Kaliber habe ich erwartet. Oftmals ist es ja so, dass große Erwartungen bitter enttäuscht werden, in diesem Fall war das aber glücklicherweise nicht so, schon nach dem ersten Durchlauf war ich total aus dem Häuschen!Was mir da aus den Boxen entgegen kam war echt der Hammer und bis dahin mit das Beste das ich je gehört hatte. Mit voller Wucht wurde einem gleich zu Beginn mit "Hellbound" ein volles Brett vor den Latz geknallt. Danach kam mit "All Night" ein etwas ruhigeres Stück - aber nur zum durchatmen, denn danach gab es mit dem "Earthshaker Rock" gleich wieder ein volles Pfund auf die Ohren.Mit "Wrathchild", "Down and out" oder "Time to die" reihen sich Knaller an Knaller und machen dieses Album zu einem Klassiker des Heavy Metal. Die ganze Geschichte wird am Ende abgerundet mit der genialen Ballade "Catch my heart".“Hellbound” kann man durchaus als eines der ersten Powermetal-Alben bezeichnen, das Teil geht ab wie “schmidt's Katze”!Zugegebenermaßen klingt “Hellbound” nicht mehr so ungestüm und rustikal wie es “Burning the Witches” noch getan hat, da kann man durchaus eine Weiterentwicklung feststellen. Die Songs sind sehr viel durchdachter und wirken "professioneller", was eben auch daran gelegen haben mag, dass man inzwischen zu einem größeren Plattenlabel gewechselt war.Auch die Band WARLOCK hat sich insgesamt weiterentwickelt, DORO singt sehr viel kontrollierter, sie kreischt zwar immer noch auf ihre so eigene Art, aber das hört sich eben nicht mehr ganz so ungezügelt an. Auch die Musiker spielen sehr viel strukturierter, das hört sich auch nicht mehr so wild und rabiat an .... trotzdem aber immer noch schön dreckig. ;-)Ich habe keine Ahnung wie viele Gehirnzellen beim "Headbangen" zerstört wurden oder wie viele Tage ich den Nacken nicht bewegen konnte - egal, das war es mir wert! :-)Anspieltipps machen hier keinen Sinn, weil das Album durch die Bank nur Hochkaräter aufzuweisen hat, das ist bester Metal, wer auf diesen dreckigen Oldschool-Sound steht, der ist hier tausendprozentig richtig.Mein Fazit: Wer auf puren, dreckigen 80er Jahre Heavy Metal steht ist hier genau richtig - keine Frage!Dieses Album steht auf meiner ewigen Bestenliste ganz weit oben, wenn ich mal so richitg abrocken möchte, dann lege ich “Hellbound” ein - da geh ich auch in inzwischen frotgeschrittenem Alter noch ab wie Sau!Tolles Album - unbedingt empfehlenswert - EINFACH GENIAL!!!!!

This CD blew me away. It’s a pure metal record. No ballads all killer no filler. I knew 2 songs before I purchased it (Hellbound & Out of Control). Doro Pesch screams her head off here. I didn’t know she could scream like that. I recommend this record for metal fans. If you want softer, trust me this ain’t it.
