The gloss black finish is a lot nicer than expected! After reading reviews I had somewhat low expectations for this product, but it seems to be the only option out there. Once I received the product I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish.I don't know how it could be any better! Maybe I got one that came off the production line on Tuesday and not Friday! lol

Pretty much perfect feels well made installation was straight forward looks good matches no gaps, unfortunately to change the clock you have to keep your old radio , and you lose many of the functions on the top screen which is a shame they didn’t have something for the series 2s to work with that, other than that it looks and feels great

Great little kit that can save you hundreds on paying for a custom made one for your car. Problem is if you care about quality this might not be a good kit for you. The first unit came with a noticeable flaw on the front (like dust made contact with the the clear coat) and the second one arrived with etching marks on the surface from the foam padding used to protect it. The third one looked fine but was damaged in shipping (not the manufacturers fault) but may bode to the use of weak/cheap plastics. Overall after a few replacements I finally got one I felt comfortable using in my car. I don't drive it much so I'm not sure how well it will hold up in heat or normal use but you get what you pay for here I guess. A couple of last notes on the product. If you plan to use a double din stereo unit you will have to permanently break out the middle bar which for most people is OK since you normally won't go back to a single DIN after you've had a double. Also the spacers they provide to go around the trim of your unit just in case there's too much of a gap are in a matte finish plastic that kind of looks cheap. Lastly while it is a black piano finish that resembles the RX-8s interior it does look a little "off" compared to the surrounding OEMs plastics which are a much higher quality.
