Varizoom Variable-Rocker Control for DV camcorders w/ LANC Jack

Varizoom makes great stuff at several different price points. When it comes to a full function LANC control, you can't beat this one. The controls work well and while the unit is remarkably small all the switches and dials are easily accessable.

I have used the simpler one of the varizoom (wich contains only the zoom rocket) until now and I was satisfied with them.I purchased this one because it has an ability to set the focus manually, wich is necessary in bed light conditions.An other advantage is the on-screen data button wich send all the screen information to the outer monitor. (I use it with Canon XA 20).This item is very useful, when your camcorder stays in a high tripod, and it would be hard to control the zoom/focus rockets.I hardly recommend this item to everybody who records long lasting actions, presentations etc.

Works great with my Sony cx900 (although I needed to separate adapters to function with the Sony multi port). Still working on getting used to the manual focus control as it can take some time to manually focus on an object with the button. Great product. No complaints.

Borrowed this controller from a friend (on his fluid head tripod) and loved it -- had to have my own. Mounted mine on a SLIK Fluid Head Tripod and have had superb results. The progressive zoom speed is ideal -- you just can't get that level of control with the camera's control switch. The additional control features are convenient as well, but the zoom control makes truly professional looking camera work possible with even the lowest cost (compatible) camera.

Fantastic unit! You get what you pay for truly applies with this purchase. I bought a less expensive unit that just didn’t cut it. Don’t cut corners and get this Lanc controller

Perfect for self filming hunts. Allows you to use camera with one hand while holding your bow in the other hand. I usually keep my camera on auto focus but there are times you need manual focus like when an animal is behind thick brush. Being able to switch to manual focus and use one hand is a big plus.

One of the problems with the built in camcorder stabilization is that it tends to lag behind camera moves. By having a device that allows one to keep hands off the camera, the video can be cleaned up without resorting to the stabilization feature.I like the rocker design and easy reach of record/stop and other functions with one finger. It is solid and well constructed and very compact. However, it is very hard to get used to pressing the rocker just the right amount for a steady zoom. It needs some sort of control knob as previous models of Varizoom have had for setting the zoom speed. Also, mine came without instructions, requiring a certain amount of experimentation to learn to use all the functions. Otherwise, I might have given it five stars.
