Top Notch Mystery with a legal slant.
Erle Stanley Gardner deserved his reputation. His first Perry Mason book sold 38 million copies over ten or so years. I love a good mystery, and Gardner delivers in spade. Mason is a lawyer who doesn't mind taking chances for his clients. Although he uses the Paul Drake Detective Agency to do a lot, he also is a damn good detective himself. The books are full of mystery, red herrings (multiple motives for murder), and usually have an unusual solution. In court-room scenes, Mason is superb, with D.A. Hamilton Burger and Lieutenant Tragg out to pin something on him. They always end up with egg on their faces. And, then, of course, there is the ever-loyal Della Street, Mason's secretary, who I think would gladly die for her boss, if necessary. If you love good mystery, you'll love Gardner's Perry Mason.

Enjoyable!
I don't really know why I enjoy this story so much, but I do enjoy it.Lots of interesting actions; the tides matter. Just a lot of Perry Mason fun.My general recollection of the Kindle version of the Perry Mason stories is that they seem to have a slightly higher-than-average conversion errors, but I cannot speak specifically to this story. Most errors of this kind are easily figured out; some are so puzzling that they take one out of the story (these are the worst). But I don't have any recollection about any particularly bad errors.

Enjoyed the quiet read. Only the names were confusing.
Learning to read was only the start to understanding the story line. Only knowing how the issues were presented helped somewhat. Not the best story line Mr Gardner presented to date, but passable. On to the next story.

How the Law Works
Teaches that there is a big difference between facts and truth. Truth is the proper interpretation of facts

Good Story
A usual fast paced mystery that Perry Mason solves. I remember that one if the TV plots was adapted from this book. If you enjoy a fast paced mystery without a lot of unnecessary words thrown in you'll like this one.
