Q: Is anyone able to tell me the weight or length of this yarn please? (in the product details is stated as 18g..which seems pretty unlikely..)

Weight is 50g =125m length or 1.75oz =137 yards.

Q: Is this wool double knit or 4 ply please?

Difficult to say exactly, the same with Spanish yarns. It is almost a double knit but comes up just a little thinner but too thick for 4ply. It's gorgeous to use, a lovely quality but I'd use a pattern specifically for this yarn to get your sizing correct for clothing unless using it for throws, blankets, toys etc where exact size isn't a problem.
