great value

After evaluating and comparing with few network scanner on the market, I decided to go with Plustek’s eScan, as it’s the most cost-economical model with network capability. I love this scanner for its simple and straight forward interface. It didn’t require me to do any setup, I was able to scan documents right out of the box. Everything runs well and I was able to create quick buttons, which is totally awesome made my scanning tasks complete with a step. Customer service was very helpful (I call because I want to delete some of the quick buttons that I have created, it turns out that I only had to long press on the buttons and drag to the trash can. It operates just like a tablet). The customer service personnel also provided me extra tips to organize my quick buttons which is superb!-I can change the startup menu to the quick button menu, as I have a team of people working on the scanner, the menu would allow my team to locate their respective scan button without going through other menus.-I was thinking about purchasing another unit, customer services personnel showed me how I can replicate the settings on my current machine to another, which is a terrific feature.Although, it would be even better if I can edit or duplicate the quick buttons on the scanner itself, but I can create it quickly, so it’s not that big of deal. I totally recommend this machine to anyone that is not tech-savvy!

Doesn't always work. Not worth the money. Like using dial-up in 1990.

Does not consistently work. Very frustrating.

Generally easy setup but thumb drive not recognized

I bought this machine specifically to copy direct to USB. Setup was easy, but on my first test scan, I found my Samsung flash drive was not recognized. I tried again with an older Sony flash drive and it was recognized. I don't know what the difference is and since the majority of my flash drives are Samsung, this requires me to invest in new flash drives and I am not certain which ones are accepted and which are not. I contacted Tech Support and spoke to someone on the chat line who claimed the A 180 doesn't copy to flash drives only on a network. The guy was completely clueless about the Plustek eScan A180 and really shouldn't be working in tech support. Therefore 1-star for tech support.

Slow user interface, only 300 DPI, but good features

On one hand, you would think that a $450 scanner would be faster, higher resolution. But apparently, network-based scanners just aren't cheap. For example, Canon makes something that looks similar but is $2000. If you don't really need network-based, you can get something a lot cheaper. But my wife is technophobic. She is okay waiting on the machine a bit as long as it is easy. So I can set up some one-button job shortcuts and it will scan and print, or scan and email. And that seemed to work well, if not speedy. It is frustrating that sometimes you will hit a button on the screen and nothing happens because it is just slow. My guess is their A250 and/or A350 are a lot faster. My understanding is that those models are very similar, but have faster CPUs. But, those models seem hard to find in USA. I don't currently see them on Amazon. And I'm sure they cost a lot more. And, honestly, if I was using this in an office environment rather than spend more money on a higher-end Plustek unit, I think I just might get that $2000 Canon unit.By the way, I'm not really sure what the difference between the A150 and A180 is. On their website, I couldn't find any good information. It looked like the A180 might not support Apple MAC. Which is not important to me. But the User Interface seemed to show MAC support. And I thought the A180 might not have all three Interfaces of USB, Ethernet and WiFi. But it does have all three. So I really don't know what the difference is. All I know is the A180 was cheaper here at Amazon so I got the A180.

Works very well.

I like the scanner very much. However, sometimes the scanner doesn't scan to my computer, but when I reboot my computer, it always seems to work fine. I would recommend this scanner.

Awesome 600 dpi Network Scanner...

The media could not be loaded. This scanner is a pleasure to use. The 7 inch LCD interface is awesome, very intuitive and user friendly. Right off the bat, I want to correct someone else's review saying this thing is only 300 dpi. For some reason on the home screen, Plustek is not allowing us to scroll to 600 dpi, the most you can scroll to is 300 dpi, but right beneath is the "ADVANCED SETTINGS." If you go in there, you can see that the 400 and 600 dpi options are there.Another complaint I read about is the speed. If you take the time to set-up your presets, meaning "often used jobs or settings," then scanning will be very quick. At the end of every scan, there is a prompt asking if you want to assigned current settings as a "Job," select yes or no. Anyway, you can save up to 6 of these jobs. I have one going to my email, one going to my network NAS, I have one set for 600 dpi for photos, etc. Watch my video to see how fast 5 pages set to duplex scanning at 300 dpi gets scanned and uploaded. Technically it's even much faster because once you grab all the papers, you can go about your business, you don't need to wait for the "Sending Success" notification. If you don't set up these "jobs," and always start from scratch with your selections such as dpi, jpeg or pdf, location, inputting email, nas IP address, dropbox, etc. If you have to go through those settings each time you scan, I can see why someone would complain it's "slow." Just save your jobs, trust me, this scanner is fast enough for your home.I have a Scansnap Fujitsu 500XI, but I need to fire up the PC and open the software to use it. I bought it to digitize decades of family photos. But for just a few documents, sometimes I don't feel like going to the garage where my office is, and I'll let things pile up. Which is why this Plustek is now set on the entryway table where all the daily mail gets stacked. Now I can quickly scan something important and trash it, instead of letting it pile up saying, "I'll scan it later." Network scanners are expensive. I can't test or speak for office use environment, but for home use, this is perfect for us.
